Washing / Watching
This is a combined project of both photography and poetry.
The book was generated from a collection of photos I’ve been taking from time to time in our bathroom.
The hanging laundry gave the room each time a totally new appearance. The morning light or the reflections from the mirror gave the it a mysterious look. The empty shirts or dresses gave a feeling that someones body went missing.
After putting the photos together as a book I wrote some words in every page describing or supporting a certain feeling. At the end a poem emerged from the pages and practically wrote itself.
Every time I enter
it’s a new room
Invisible bodies
washed away
by morning light
Hanging
Leaving trace of effort
Who’s watching?
the landscapes
Who’s walking?
the rows
the patterns
the ropes
Who’s waiting, creating?
The solitary game
The empty heart
Every chaos has it’s meaning
So where do
all the single socks go?
