Helena is a painter, a print maker and an art teacher
Helena Elfgren was born in 1960 in Stockholm and moved as a young adult to Värmland, in the western part of Sweden, where she started her artistic career. Nowadays she lives in Stockholm, where she also has her studio.
Her paintings of landscape are done in oil on canvas or wood panel and are often semi-abstract.
The graphic sheets are usually printed in several colors and made in collography and photopolymer.
With simple lines and color, Helena creates depth and contrasts in her works where nature and human progress are at the center. In some works she mixes the graphic techniques and experiments to reach new expressions. She prints the pictures on hahnemühle acid-free copper printing paper in small editions as she wants to move on with new pictures.
Helena has on behalf of ”Våga Se” – the art association in Norrköping municipality, ”Galleri Joakim Sander” and ”Grafiska Sällskapet” worked with commissioned editions and is represented in several municipalities and county councils.
Helena has participated in member exhibitions and had separate exhibitions at galleries and art galleries around Sweden with both painting and graphics.
